As Chartered Surveyors we are required to undertake a programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD). As part of DowlingDodd’s commitment to lifelong learning we frequently attend courses and lectures locally and further afield.
Julian, Paul and Richard have just completed the second part of RICS Surveys in Practice Seminars at Bristol which was undertaken over 2 days in February and March.
Speakers included Phil Parnham a chartered building surveyor from BlueBox Partners who has published several books including The Surveyor’s Guide to Home Surveys, Assessing Building Services and Residential Property Appraisal for Spons Press.
Mathew Elliot of WYG who has been appointed as an Independent Expert by the Environment Agency shared his expertise as a specialist in flood risk assessments for new and existing properties.
Topics included an update on Japanese Knotweed, common defects in drainage systems, permanent outbuildings and when planning permission may be required and fire safety in low rise buildings which is particularly relevant following the Grenfell disaster.
